[GGOV3] SECT.19 - This Last Battle of Mine

Just hours ago, Yen Press announced at Anime NYC that they have licensed SAOAGGO the novel. As such, we will most likely make a speedy release of the rest of volume 3 of the series (because all of it is translated already anyway) within the next few days, but not continue with volume 4 onward. Due to legal issues, we may also need to take down the entire translation on this blog in the near future. Until then, please enjoy the remainder of volume 3 and, if you liked the series, please support the franchise by purchasing an official version of the books.

Full-width text (Like this) is emphasising that the original text is written using the Latin alphabet. Note that most abbreviations that are not in italics are written using the Latin alphabet as well. Italic text is Engrish (English written in katakana). Abbreviations in italics means that the Japanese version used some shorter form of an English word, but in katakana. In cases when I needed to emphasise that the word is Japanese (or when the text specifically commented about it being Japanese), I added the Japanese version as furigana.

Any feedback is appreciated.

[GGOV3] SECT.18 - Deranged LLENN

It's been a long while since an AGGO update, so it's about time for a new chapter. With MMTM out of the way, all we have left is the final showdown. But first, LLENN needs a final push... Also, that moment when you get outpunned...

In other news, the official translation for the first AGGO manga volume was released yesterday. If you liked this series, please consider supporting the series by purchasing the official translations. Also, as most have heard by now, AGGO is getting an anime. The good thing is that we get some animated Fuka/Miyu (:3), but the bad thing is that Yen Press has even more reason to license the novel, so it's only a matter of time till we have to stop. We're going to finish this volume at the very least, but whether we continue further will depend on both how Yen Press plays its cards, and on interest from the readers.

Comic-sans font is for Japanese text that's in katakana or foreign words in hiragana. Courier font is for lines that were entirely in hiragana. In cases when I needed to emphasise that the word is Japanese (or when the text specifically commented about it being Japanese), I added the Japanese version as furigana.

Any feedback is appreciated.

[Clover's Regret] Chapter 3 - The Phantom Orchestra

Unfortunately, the only editor who had been helping me with Clover's Regret has informed me that he will not have time to work on all of his projects, thus he will have to drop most of them. Clover's Regret is one of them. Seeing as I have no one else to count on for editing, I've decided to release the translation unedited, as leaving it to rot in a GDrive folder is a waste of all the labour involved. As such, I hope that you, the readers, will help by pointing out any errors or parts that are hard to understand/don't sound so good so that the translation can be improved. If I eventually find some grammar/style nazi willing to help with the editing, the translation will be updated to reflect any improvements made. The final chapter is also translated, but I'll release it in a week or two to give more time for people to notice that this chapter was released. Prepare for some obvious... and some not so obvious, though foreshadowed reveals. As for this chapter... it's loooooooooooooooooooooong, but nice. Especially if you're here for the Sleeping Knights references.

Bold text marks the use of boutens (dots beside the text that are used for emphasis) in the raw. Comic sans font is used for unusual text, like English words in hiragana (rather than katakana) or katakana for Japanese words. We also make great use of furigana for both when the original text used it and for explaining Japanese text when we had to keep it in the translation for the discussion to make sense (or to show the puns that would be lost in the translation otherwise). Remember that the big text at the bottom is supposed to be the meaning of the phrase, while the little ruby text above it supposed to be how the text is read. Parentheses covering a paragraph seems to be the author's way to denote the character's monologue/thoughts.

Thanks to all of those who contributed to the SAO Scans project for helping us get the raws.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Status Update - 17th of October

Seeing as we haven't posted any translation in a couple of weeks and it doesn't look like we'll have anything to release this week either, I thought I'd post an update on our progress. On my end, I've been busy with uni, as well as a kendo tournament this weekend, so I haven't made any progress the past two weeks. I also have to finish a case report by the end of the week, so I'll probably only return to translating after I get that thing off my back. Now, for the status on our translation projects.

AGGO

SECT.18 and 19 have already been translated, but our editors are currently busy, so I am unsure when they'll be released. I'm currently working on translating SECT.20, which is the finale of the tournament. However, progress on my own end has been slow due to RL as well.

Clover's Regret

The entire tankoubon has been translated, but the next chapter is awfully long and the only editor on the project is currently busy with other work, so it will probably be awhile before the translation is released.

SAO Comic Anthology

Mttblue has shown interest in typesetting the remaining chapters, but he's currently busy with both university work and helping Defan. Without a free typesetter, we can't really do much with this project.

Interviews

I am considering doing the character book interviews (especially seeing as we're in need of a filler release due to not having anything else that we can publish anytime soon), if anyone's actually interested in those.

New projects

Another Ordinal Scale side story has been released with the BDs of the movie. I'll probably take it up when I finish with SECT.20 of AGGO... and find some free time.

Rainbow Bridge

Finally got around to TLCing and proofreading part 4, which was the longest one of them, in the last few weeks. Also, someone volunteered to help out with editing, but I haven't heard from them in awhile. I'll probably wait a couple more weeks to see if they're still on board. If not, I'll probably just finish up on my own and release what I have to at least have the translation improvements out in the public.

[Announcement] Translation of Aincrad lore added to the OS spoiler book

To commemorate the release of the Ordinal Scale BD/DVDs in Japan, I finally got around to translating some more stuff from the Full Record of SAO the Movie "Behind-the-Scenes" booklet that I had put off because of exams. Beside the interview that I translated months ago, it also had a page for the final boss of the movie, so I thought that it would be some lore for the boss, but it apparently came with lore about Aincrad itself, including some details that have yet to be revealed even in the latest Progressive volumes.

For those interested, you can read it here (scroll to the bottom of the page).

[GGOV3] SECT.17 - Return of the Demon

Another month, another AGGO chapter. This chapter, we continue the MMTM vs PM4 battle, only with Pito out of her sleeping beauty mode, so it's about time for some massacre, wouldn't you agree? We also learn that Pitohui is actually a Kirito fangirl, in a sense...

Full-width text (Like this) is emphasising that the original text is written using the Latin alphabet. Note that most abbreviations that are not in italics are written using the Latin alphabet as well. Italic text is Engrish (English written in katakana). [Full Translation] Hopeful Chant

Edit: I've added a translation of a chronology table that was included with the story. Note that although the chronology specifically states that it follows the LN (technically, "the original work") timeline, it does conflict with some of the dates previously established in the LNs.

Well, a month after announcing our work on the project and a month before the release of the Ordinal Scale BD/DVDs, we've finally finished translating and editing the entirety of Hopeful Chant. Which means that you have an extra reason to actually buy the BD/DVDs to rewatch the movie, now with some background details.

Since the majority voted to have Hopeful Chant released in one go, we've decided to release the translation as a full text version, instead of making posts for each chapter. Thus, instead of having the translation on a blog post like this one, we're releasing it as a page of its own, as this allows us to avoid having the date in the link.

Notice: The story is meant to be read after watching the Ordinal Scale movie, thus this bonus story, especially parts 5 and 6, spoil some plot details from the movie. Read at your own risk. Additionally, this story may or may not need some kleenex at hand.

[GGOV3] SECT.16 - Memento Mori

Well, a new SAO game set in Gun Gale Online has been announced, so to commemorate that, we've decided to release an AGGO chapter. We totally didn't just accidentally end up with this coincidence due to RL holding us back. Totally. Anyway, next chapter has a promising title, so you'll have something to look forward to for the next release.

Full-width text (Like this) is emphasising that the original text is written using the Latin alphabet. Note that most abbreviations that are not in italics are written using the Latin alphabet as well. Italic text is Engrish (English written in katakana). [Clover's Regret] Chapter 2 - The Visiting of the Fox

Well, it's been more than half a year since the last update, so it's time for a new Clover's Regret chapter. Sorry for taking so long, but these chapters are just so long that it's hard to find the time to translate them. The next chapter is actually nearly 1.5 times larger than either this or the previous chapter... Luckily, I've just finished translating it (and it was a fr***in' pain in the ass, mind you), but we still need to edit it... so I wouldn't expect it to be released all that soon.

Anyway, back to the topic. With this chapter, we take a break from the actual quest for some real world time, background stories, discussions about VR and similar stuff... and, apparently, cats and gods. Don't know how on earth it came to that, but, oh well, let's just go with that. The entirety of the next chapter will be about the quest. And it'll also have some Sleeping Knights stuff, in case you were wondering if this story was going to tie in with them in any way.

We had a poll on how many notes we should make for Clover's Regret and, although the majority of the small number of people who actually bothered to vote decided that the number of notes we had in the previous chapter was acceptable (strangely, closely followed by the demand for more notes... I was actually expecting the opposite situation, but people are weird, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ), we didn't actually have much to note in this chapter. And with a lot of the things we could have made notes for, we just got around with furigana or other tricks, so we only ended up with 6 notes in total. Surprisingly. Don't worry you eight people who actually want more notes, the next chapter has a bit more stuff that needs noting.

On a side note, I'm nearly done with the Hopeful Chant translation, but I'm going on holiday as of tomorrow, so I wouldn't expect the translation to be released for another week at the very least. Depends on how fast editing will be done.

Bold text marks the use of boutens (dots beside the text that are used for emphasis) in the raw. Comic sans font is used for unusual text, like English words in hiragana (rather than katakana) or katakana for Japanese words. [Project Announcement] Sword Art Online: Hopeful Chant

Seeing as I promised Haffen I'd start working on Hopeful Chant if he'd finally finish editing Clover's Regret chapter 2, and this was finished just today, I guess I should formally announce that we've started working the story.

Hopeful Chant is an SAO side story written by Kawahara Reki as a bonus to those who went to see the Ordinal Scale movie in Japan on certain weeks. The SS features a background story for Yuna and Eiji, two of the new characters in the movie (and thus may or may not include some movie foreshadowing/spoilers).

However, we couldn't decide whether to release it in parts, or the whole thing in one go, thus we figured we'd make a poll on that to see how people would prefer we handled it. So, if you're interesting in reading this side story, please share your opinion below.

P.S. The story consists of 6 parts, about 10-15 pages each. That's about half or even less the size of a GGOV1 chapter.

P.S.S. Yes, that means that we're hoping to do a Clover's Regret chapter release soon.

[GGOV3] SECT.15 - It's a Game After All

With the SHINC bought off with candies to provide a distraction, LLENN finally gets her chance at aiming for Pito's life. Also, the universe might be on the verge of imploding, because this chapter apparently doesn't have ANY notes... like zero, zilch, zip, nada, nothing... it just feels so weird... Disclaimer: I don't know if the German term means what Japanese think it means.

Full-width text (Like this) is emphasising that the original text is written using the Latin alphabet. Note that most abbreviations that are not in italics are written using the Latin alphabet as well. Italic text is Engrish (English written in katakana). Status Update - 1st of July

Well, I'm FINALLY done with my exams (at least until next semester), so I will be returning to actively working on translations. As such, I figured I'd post an update on the status of our projects, and our current plans.

AGGO

SECT.14 has been released several days ago. SECT.15 had been translated before my exams and Pryun has already finished going through it, so we just need ZeHaffen to do his round of editing. He should be focusing on this next, so, hopefully, we'll get it released soon. Translation progress-wise, SECT.15 is the last chapter that I had translated before my exams, so I'll probably be prioritising on translating SECT.16 (and maybe SECT.17, depending on how fast Pryun catches up) next to maintain a translation buffer zone.

Clover's Regret

Chapter 2 was translated back in April, but editing is only about 1/3 done so far. ZeHaffen plans to work on finishing editing after SECT.15. I'm personally hoping to get chapter 3 translated some time in July, depending on how much time I'll need for AGGO.

SAO Comic Anthology

After we finished Aincrad Night of Kirito, Mttblue showed interest in helping us finish the Comic Anthology, so, hopefully, we can start releasing the remaining stories soon.

Various interviews

I might continue to do some interviews now and then when I need a break from my other projects. Or when we need a filler release.

New project

I might take up translating a certain side story, as Defan has said that he's rather busy. Emphasis on might, since I want to make sure I'm not slowing down my other projects before starting a new one.

Rainbow Bridge
Still in editing hell because too many other more pressing projects to deal with.

[GGOV3] SECT.14 - Shoot-out

Well, today I've had my fifth out of six exams, so here's a chapter of AGGO to celebrate. On a side note, that's one hard-to-spell name for a laundry pole... :/

Full-width text (Like this) is emphasising that the original text is written using the Latin alphabet. Note that most abbreviations that are not in italics are written using the Latin alphabet as well. Italic text is Engrish (English written in katakana). [Aincrad Night] 8th Night

On the final night, Kirito was visited by the last person to have yet have her deban, the treasure hunting maniac, Philia! But since this is the final chapter, all the other girls (fortunately, Asugil and Kleinugu did not have one too many drinks this time) have also been brought into the picture for an all-star climax. I hope you all enjoyed the series.

Thanks to all of those who contributed to the SAO Scans project for helping us get the raws.

Full Record of SAO the Movie "Behind-the-Scenes"

Edit: Added a translation of Aincrad lore and stuff about the final boss in the movie (see bottom of the page).

Well, I'm still struggling with my exams, so my translation progress is on hiatus for the time being. In the meantime, I figured I'd post some more filler content until we have something bigger to show.

On that note, the Full Record of SAO the Movie "Behind-the-Scenes" is a booklet that was given as the eighth week Ordinal Scale movie bonus in Japan. The booklet contained an interview with some members of the staff talking about the movie, all spoilers allowed, as well as some other stuff, like boss images and lore for one of the bosses. The interview also had some pictures, but I only had photos of the book to work from, as I haven't seen actual scans of the booklet itself. So, for the time being, I'm only releasing the translation of the interview itself. I'll add the pictures (+ translation of the captions) when scans become available.

Note that some excerpts of this interview had been translated by someone else, though they haven't translated the whole thing, as far as I know, so don't be surprised if some of the stuff here sounds familiar.

Any feedback is appreciated. Especially if you've noticed any error, as I haven't had the time to proofread the translation.

Note: The booklet came with official English names for all the bosses in the movie, which I used as reference for the translation. Please note that the booklet still uses "An Incarnate of the Radius", even though it was retconned to "An Incarnation of the Radius" in the disc version of the movie. For translation accuracy, I will keep the original version of the name in the translation.

[Kawahara's tweets] Kirito's coats (6th June, 2017)

A few days ago, Kawahara noticed that the fidget spinners look like the metal piece of Kirito's baldric and decided to reveal some details about it. I was mostly busy with my first exam this whole week, so I couldn't comment on the tweets on the Wikia twitter, but noticed that Crunchyroll had posted about them. However, now that I've had the time to look through the tweets more carefully, I've noticed that there were some misinterpretation of one of Kawahara's tweets. I figured I'd translate the tweets how I interpret them to correct this misunderstanding and have a translation to reference for the wiki. Unfortunately, Wikia doesn't seem to want to embed tweets, so I had to resort to using this blog instead. Think of it as filler until we have some translation ready for release (and while I'm too busy to translate because exams OP).

If you spot any issue with my translation, please let me know.

[GGOV3] SECT.13 - SHINC Running

Well, this chapter kinda answers one of the biggest questions from the previous chapters... but the implications are dire... ZEMAL actually learnt some new words... is the end of the world already upon us?

In other news, as the chapter implies, it's time for some SHINC deban, which will last for several chapters.

Full-width text (Like this) is emphasising that the original text is written using the Latin alphabet. Note that most abbreviations that are not in italics are written using the Latin alphabet as well. Italic text is Engrish (English written in katakana). On the seventh night, Kirito was visited by... the secret boss! And she sure knows her trump cards... If you're in this for Yui, prepare to be amazed. [OS Pamphlet] SAO Secret Report

Note: Does not include any actual spoilers for the Ordinal Scale movie, so you're safe to read it even if you haven't watched the movie yet.

So, some time ago (I don't even remember when), Takazuki shared a pamphlet about Ordinal Scale she received. The pamphlet included character designs and stuff like that, but it also apparently had a few pages dedicated to Ordinal Scale lore, which was practically non-existent in the movie itself. Since I had some free time, but not enough to work on a more major project, I figured I'd finally get around to translating it to share with others (totally not because I'm a lore fanatic and wanted to translate this to have material for the wiki... also totally not because I needed some filler translation because nothing else is ready to be published at the moment).

Disclaimer: This was a quick translation with no real effort to edit it, so the translation isn't completely refined.

On the sixth night, Kirito was visited by Asuna and Leafa!... Wait, what do you mean they're busy? Oh fine, change of plans. Bring in the stunt doubles!
Sorry for the technical difficulties. As I was saying, on the sixth night, Kirito was visited by Asugil and Kleinugu. No story has been referenced here, so, luckily, no need for notes for this chapter. This is actually my second favourite chapter of the bunch (only losing to hunky Asuna) as it's quite funny, so enjoy :3

[Project Termination] SAOAGGO manga

As some of you may have heard, Yen Press has, to my great surprise, licensed the SAOAGGO manga (though the LN has yet to be confirmed as licensed). Our goal is to provide the community with SAO content that would otherwise be unavailable to the English-speaking world, thus due to the manga now being licensed (and because Pure Mashiro has been MIA for months now), we will be dropping the project for the SAOAGGO manga. Though since the manga itself isn't hosted on the blog, I probably won't remove any posts about it. Since we've only released three chapters, consider it to be a sample of what you can expect if you buy the entire volume, I guess?

As for the novel version, due to there being no word about a license for the novel, we will still be continuing the translation in hopes of at least finishing volume 3 before Yen Press does anything. Whether or not we'll continue to work on volume 4 and beyond, however, is yet to be decided. The next arc spans another two volumes and I'd hate to leave the job half done, so we'll probably wait and see what Yen Press is planning to do with the series.

-Gsimenas

[GGOV3] SECT.12 - Shirley

After a more than a month, we're finally ready to release another update on AGGO (geez, the recent... and future, at least in this volume, AGGO chapters are nearly twice the usual size...). Since all that slaughter in the previous chapters kinda shrunk the competition... considerably, I guess it's time for some exposition for one of the new characters, who hasn't had much deban. Though, this chapter brought up one of the biggest mysteries in the series.... HOW THE HELL are the ZEMAL guys still alive? (to be answered next chapter). The tsundere Boss is a nice bonus though :D

Full-width text (Like this) is emphasising that the original text is written using the Latin alphabet. Note that most abbreviations that are not in italics are written using the Latin alphabet as well. Italic text is Engrish (English written in katakana). [Aincrad Night] 5th Night

On the fifth night, Kirito was visited by... the ice sni... eh, archer? And this night we have a rather well known story featured, though it doesn't seem like any vague references not explained in text, so I haven't made any notes here.

[Aincrad Night] 4th Night

On the fourth night, Kirito was visited by... some familiar faces! Oh Yui, so innocently lewd... Surprisingly, this chapter lacks any reference to stories from the One Thousand and One Nights... unless I missed some hidden reference. So, no need for drawn out explanations here... if you don't count Yui's secret weapon that is. Wasn't sure if that needed an explanation or not, as it's kinda implied by context. Let me know if that does need a note.

Status update - 12th of March

I figured I'd make a short post to keep everyone updated on our projects.

Aincrad Night of Kirito

The tankoubon of the manga released on the 10th of March has officially ended the manga at 8 chapters (including 3 chapters that were not released on the magazine). The good news is that Haffen has bought the tankoubon, thus we will be able to release those 3 original chapters as well. The bad news is that Mttblue is busy, so we can't really predict when the chapters will be released. Chapter 4 and 5 have been translated already and I'm waiting to get the raw for chapters 6-8 to start translating them.

P.S. In case anyone wants some teasers for what to expect in the original chapters.

AGGO

SECT.12 has been translated, but Haffen is currently busy helping push the release for Accel World. Once he's done, he'll begin editing the chapter and I hope we'll be able to release it soon. Translation-wise, I'm currently working on SECT.13 to reduce holdups.

Clover's Regret

I've started translating chapter 2, but since Pryun and Haffen caught up to me on AGGO, I'm currently prioritising that project. I plan (or at least hope) to focus on translating Clover's Regret during my Spring Break in April.

AGGO (manga)

We have translated chapter 4 months ago, but we haven't heard from Pure Mashiro in a long while, so we don't have anyone to work on cleaning/redrawing/typesetting at the moment. Thus I have no idea when we'll be able to release the chapter.

SAO Comic Anthology

Too busy with other projects, so due to its low priority, this project hasn't really moved in months. We're not abandoning it, but I have no idea when we'll actually make progress on it.

Various interviews

I've seen several untranslated interviews released recently. If there is interest and I want a break from other projects, I might take a look at them (if nobody else gets to them before me).

Rainbow Bridge

[GGOV3] SECT.10 - Ten Minute Massacre - The Second (I)

As promised at the end of the previous volume, this volume starts off with LLENN's own ten minute massacre. Although her massacre gets carried out a bit differently and against a smaller group, it's still technically a massacre. Surprisingly, this massacre gets divided into two chapters, when the slaughter technically ends in this chapter. Oh well, next chapter has some great moments that make up for the lack of slaughter going on.

Comic sans font is used to indicate an unusual way of writing a word (like writing English in hiragana or Japanese in katakana). In cases when I needed to emphasise that the word is Japanese (or when the text specifically commented about it being Japanese), I added the Japanese version as furigana.

Any feedback is appreciated.

[Aincrad Night] 3rd Night

On the third night, Kirito was visited by... Strea! So the topic of this story is naturally going to be boobs. Like the previous chapter, a story from the One Thousand and One Nights is referenced... solely as an excuse to get Strea in a bath towel, apparently. Though, since the manga still does a poor job at making sense of the story it references, here's a short summary of the actually relevant part:

For reference, I used this translation to look up the plot. I have no idea if Strea's comment about the French translation is accurate. Also, I can't believe I read that thing when the story, with two other irrelevant stories inside of it, was only referenced to get Strea in a bath towel... And of course the only actually relevant part of the story was only covered at the very end... :| Well, at least on the plus side, this chapter had some nice reactions.

Thanks to all of those who contributed to the SAO Scans project for helping us get the raws.

Any feedback is appreciated. A Batoto link will most likely be posted the following day. I recommend reading the PDF version for now to see the images more clearly.

[Project Announcement] Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online III -2nd Squad Jam- (II)

As promised, now that we have the first chapter of Clover's Regret released and I'm done with my exams (until Summer at least), we'll soon start publishing translations for the third volume of the Gun Gale Online spin-off. We're actually nearly done with the first chapter in the volume, so expect a release within the next few days.

Note that since this volume is considered a part two of the 2nd Squad Jam story, the chapter numbering continues from the previous volume, instead of resetting. Thus, don't be surprised that the first chapter in this volume will be SECT.10.

P.S. The volume has a short summary of the events from the previous volume. Should I even bother translating it though?

[Aincrad Night] 2nd Night

On the second night, Kirito was visited by... the Girls Ops! Also, starting from this chapter, the manga starts using stories from the original One Thousand and One Nights for some plot. This night, we have The Hunchback's Tale. Since the manga doesn't exactly explain the plot of that story well, but the story is reenacted in a way in the manga, here's a summary of that story (Mttblue2 also included it in on the relevant manga page):

For reference, I used this version of the story, since it also included that character at the end which was referenced in the manga (other versions I found did not have any mention of him).

In other news, the last issue of the SAO Magazine, as the last page of this manga mentions, included two chapters instead of one. The second chapter has already been translated and given to Mttblue2 for typesetting, thus it should be released soon enough. Also, the tankoubon version of the manga has been listed on Amazon for release on March 10, if anyone is interested. I'm guessing that the manga could be approaching the end of its serialisation already.

Thanks to all of those who contributed to the SAO Scans project for helping us get the raws.

Any feedback is appreciated.

[SAOMAGAZINE V2] Interview with Kawahara Reki

Although I currently have exams till 23rd of January, I wanted to take a break from studying and decided to read an interview that was published on the latest issue of the Sword Art Online Magazine (Volume 2, released on December 26) and found that there are quite a few interesting things mentioned in it, but by the time I'm done with my exams, I'm not sure if anyone would still be interested in it, so I decided to do a quick translation of the interview right now. As such, there might be some inaccuracies in the translation, especially since some parts were a little ambiguous or used various expressions that I may not have accurately interpreted, but that should only be minor details, thus it shouldn't have much of an effect on the essential info.

P.S. The latest Dengeki Bunko MAGAZINE also had an interview with Kawahara, but after reading it, I discovered that it was nearly the same interview as this one, except that it had less content (did not have all the side talk) and had slightly paraphrased some of the questions and answers, so I don't really see the point in translating that interview as well.

[Clover's Regret] Chapter 1 - Mitsuba Detective

Ho-ho-ho, happy holidays everyone! You know what that means? A holiday translation update! And what better translation to publish than the first chapter of Clover's Regret (for those who forgot this was even a thing, see here.) that had been stuck in editing hell for half a year, since the holidays finally gave us the respite to finish up the editing. Especially since one chapter of this story is like 1/4 of an entire book.

Clover's Regret is a series which rather heavily capitalises on Japanese culture, including tons of yokai-that-I-never-even-heard-about, various Japanese sweets and food (this chapter kinda made me hungry...), and various cultural references. Also, expect some Japanese puns and even riddles-that-required-leaving-the-original-text-for-the-discussion-to-make-sense for good measure. So, whoever is interested in all of that stuff will find this series a blast... and those who don't... well, you have my condolences for all the Japanese stuff you'll have to go through.

Because of the variety of cultural references (as well as the size of this chapter...), we have ended up with a ton of translation notes. To reduce the number of notes, we've decided to refrain from explaining all the various yokai and foods, as well as other things that I would have normally left a note for. However, we've also decided to have a poll to gauge our readerbase's interest in translation notes. The poll will be available on the side bar and will be open till around February. So, please share your opinion if you're interested in continuing the series!

For those interested in future releases of the series, the story seems to have finished its serialisation on the Dengeki Bunko MAGAZINE and has been compiled in its entirety as a single tankoubon volume, thus it seems that the series has been finished in Japan. The volume consists of the three chapters serialised on the magazine, as well as an additional final chapter. Each chapter is about as big as this one, thus they will take time to translate. And seeing as the series isn't progressing anymore, we will probably not be in a hurry to catch up to the Japanese side. As such, expect long breaks between releases, as we'll probably only get around to it when we have considerable free time.

Bold text marks the use of boutens (dots beside the text that are used for emphasis) in the raw. Unlike for AGGO, we did not bother marking out the Engrish in the text for this series, as the author of this series has much fewer issues with overuse of Engrish.

Any feedback is appreciated.

[Aincrad Night] 1st Night

On the first night, Kirito was visited by Asuna. So, prepare for some KiriAsu/Kirisuna moments, as well as... innocently lewd Yui, Kiriko and more. This chapter made me realise that I'd actually like to see Asuna as the one with more initiative in the relationship. :3

Thanks to all of those who contributed to the SAO Scans project for helping us get the raws. We'll probably release this chapter on Batoto in the near future.

[Project Announcement] Sword Art Online Aincrad Night of Kirito

So, several days ago, the first volume of the new Sword Art Online Magazine came out. The magazine came with three new manga and one of them caught my attention for the scene in the image above. Sword Art Online Aincrad Night of Kirito (ソードアート・オンライン キリトの#千夜一夜物語#(アインクラッドナイト)) is a spinoff story based on Hollow Fragment (so it follows the SAO game canon rather than the main canon) and here's a short synopsis for it (hiding it from the main page because of spoilers).

[GGOM] LINK #003 - Prologue ③

Since we're done with volume 2 of SAOAGGO, we're now focusing on releasing the first chapter of Clover's Regret, but... that thing is kinda... huge for a chapter, so it'll take a bit more time to get out of editing hell. So, in the mean time, how's about chapter 3 of the SAOAGGO manga to fill in the time between releases? It's about the same size as chapter 2 and mostly still original content, but we're now returning to the main plot (for the most part) and getting the bear's M's debut. Next chapter will be longer and will feature some LLENN and M action and Pito's IRL debut.

[GGOV2] Another Story

And here's the short at the end of the afterword, featuring none other than... Sigsawa's self-insert character! It seems that this will be a reoccurring thing, since the following volumes continue this afterword story (ugh, dose titles... and they're growing in size...).

[GGOV2] Afterword

To end the SAOAGGOV2 translation project, here's Sigsawa's afterword about Sigsawa... being your typical Sigsawa. There's also a short story that came with the afterword and we'll be releasing it momentarily.

[GGOV2] SECT.9 - Ten Minute Massacre - The First

Well, here's the final chapter in the volume (but not the final chapter in the arc - the story will continue in volume 3). Unfortunately, despite the title, it's not really that interesting... just kidding, the title is totally worth the hype. What better way to end the volume than to enjoy a badass slaughter? Cue the sunglasses!

Chapter 2 of the SAOAGGO manga is now available. It's much shorter than chapter 1 and still continues the original content. The original content should end in the next chapter and we'll return to the main plot. Plus, M will finally making his beary deban, so stay tuned!

[SAO Comic Anthology] Asuna, Do Your Best!

ZeHaffen here, back with the newest chapter of the Comic Anthology. Chapter 7 is a cute little KiriAsu story called "Asuna, Do Your Best!" Everyone knows I love me some KiriAsu, so this one is perfect for me. It's damn adorable watching Asuna try so hard for Kirito.

This one is a little NSFW, so be careful of that.

Here's the .zip file for those who wish to download the chapter.

[GGOV2] SECT.8 - Their Respective Strategies

Well, Fuka had a rough start, so it's time to give her some time to shine... or more like blow people up. Boss also gets a nice scene that cracked me up. Anyway, the next chapter is going to be the final one in this volume (SECT.10+ will be in volume 3) and just to get everyone hyped up... I'd like to remind those who have finished this chapter that the next one is called "Ten Minute Massacre".

As I've mentioned in the announcement an hour ago, we'll be working on the SAOAGGO manga adaptation as a joint project with Pure Mashiro. The first chapter has already been released on Batoto, so enjoy the read and let us know in the comments how you liked it.

P.S. Ouch, LLENN has a thing for attacking where it hurts XD

[Collaborative Project Announcement] Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online manga

Surprise to all SAOAGGO fans! We'll be taking up the SAOAGGO manga as a joint project with Pure Mashiro. They've volunteered to help with cleaning, redrawing and typesetting and we'll be providing them with a translation of the chapters.

The manga is illustrated by Tamori Tadadi and is an adaptation of the Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online light novel series by Sigsawa Keiichi that we have been translating. The manga is serialised on Dengeki Maoh that's released on the 27th of every month (though the manga has been serialised only bimonthly after its third chapter). The series has been ongoing since the 27th of October, 2015 and should have six chapters released in Japan at the time of writing. The manga isn't a 1:1 adaptation of the novel, as it adds some original content and changes some details of the original story. But if you've enjoyed LLENN's adventures so far, the manga should be a good read. Especially when it gets to the action.

The first chapter is nearly ready and should be posted on Batoto in a few hours. We'll make a post once it's live. As for the following chapters, since this is a collaborative project and we'll be treating it as a side project, I'm not sure how often updates will be made. So, expect the releases to come out at random times whenever they're ready :D

[Project Announcement] Sword Art Online Alternative: Clover's Regret

Clover's Regret (officially known as Sword Art Online Alternative: Clover's Regret (ソードアート・オンライン オルタナティブ クローバーズリグレット)) is a novel-format SAO spin-off by Watase Sōichirō that is serialised in Dengeki Bunko MAGAZINE as part of the Dengeki Bunko Resurrection Series project. According to the synopsis released with the announcement, the story is about a certain SAO survivor who is a "detective". The first chapter was released on the 10th of June, with the second chapter to be released in August. The first chapter is actually kinda long - about 1/4-1/5 of the size of a regular light novel or about 3 regular SAOAGGO chapters.

Since I had some free time, I decided to give this latest SAO spin-off a try. And so, I'll be doing a translation of the first chapter as a teaser project. As it would be hard to manage both SAOAGGO and Clover's Regret concurrently, I'll use the first chapter to gauge interest in the series to see if it's worth it. If I see enough interest, I may take up more chapters in the future. I have already finished translating the chapter and it will probably be released in one go as soon as editing is done.

For those interested, I'll include some info about the characters and plot. Some spoilers ahead, so read at your own risk. :P

[GGOV2] SECT.7 - Guilds-in-Action

In celebration of the release of the fifth volume in the series, it's time for an update. Last time, we had a show of LLENN's badassness, so it's time we took a look at what else was going on in the mean time. Let's see, we have ZEMAL... actually having at least some neurons in their muscle-filled heads (is the universe about to implode?), random youtubers (or at least their Japanese equivalents), the two other favourites getting some deban (aww, seems like Boss's funny moment is only next chapter, oh well), random idiots (well, someone has to replace ZEMAL as the total birdbrains), chuunibyous, the debut of the new reoccurring characters and... a bored last boss. Well, at least that's going to change soon enough...

[GGOV2] SECT.6 - Booby Trap

Well, this update took longer than expected, but we were all a bit too busy the past month. I still have one more exam left this semester before I can enjoy summer, so I haven't really made any progress lately (thankfully, I had this translated in advance), but I hope to get back to translating in a week or two after I'm done with my exams.

Anyway, the tournament starts as of this chapter and what better way to start it than the main character beating the crud out of some random team? Poor Guy #4...

Introducing Thommy

To my pleasant surprise, my last post about welcoming ZeHaffen to the team has attracted another helping hand. Thommy will be helping out with editing the SAOAGGO project and has already contributed to editing the recently released SECT 5 of volume 2.
